thoughts

August 7, 2010

I find myself trying to write but don’t know what. On the other hand, I often do have lots of ideas and real-life examples of Project Mananagement, but somehow when I have time I have no inspiration, and when I have inspiration I have no time.

I am currently trying to get together a new book on Microsoft Project 2010. Seriously thinking to make it publicly available as it goes along, just to get feed-back from you all.

I also find myself struggling between a rock and a hard place: to write – but sometimes I think its way to irrelevant, or to hold until I REALLY have something to say – but then I might hold forever :)

The road to PMP

June 7, 2010

These days I have a serious question in mind whether to try to pass the PMP exam or not. I teach and sometimes even Project Management related disciplines, and I feel like I need to fill-in some gaps, on one side, and to gain some legitimacy as a professor on the other side.

As with any exam, there are a few things I need to take into consideration:

- will I have the strenghth to go all the way (i.e. spend weeks/months of the year to come to prepare myself for the exam)

- will the money be well spent  (i.e. once I pass the exam I will be able to get some financial return)

- what if I fail – I don’t like failing, but nevertheless I need to take this into consideration – will I be able to take it from the beginning?

Have looked over the PMP site – did not understand a lot of things, except that the exam is not easy and it will be cheaper if I am a PMI member. So I guess if I decide to try  I need to become a PMI member first.

I’ll try to figure out the answers to the questions above, but nevertheless I think that such a certification would be both a recognition of my knowledge and a way to make some extra income.
